The Ministry of Health has responded to public discussions surrounding a query issued to Ms. Bernice Aboagye, a staff nurse, over alleged unprofessional remarks directed at the Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh. While the Ministry commended the Ghana Health Service for promptly enforcing professional standards and the Code of Conduct for health workers, the Minister has appealed for leniency in addressing the matter. Hon. Akandoh noted that both he and the government value diverse opinions and constructive criticism, emphasizing that such dialogue is essential for promoting tolerance and openness. He encouraged health workers to voice their views responsibly and respectfully, stressing that insults and unprofessional conduct hinder the progress and integrity of the health sector.
The Ministry also clarified that it does not oppose lawful demonstrations, recognizing them as a legitimate means for citizens to express frustration and exercise their constitutional rights. However, it warned that abusive language and acts of indiscipline during such activities will not be tolerated.
