The Ghana Education Trust Fund has announced the opening of applications for its postgraduate local scholarships for the 2025/2026 academic year
JUSMAnewshub -19th January 2026

This opportunity is aimed at Ghanaian students who wish to pursue master’s and PhD programmes in accredited public tertiary institutions across the country. The scholarship forms part of GETFund’s ongoing commitment to strengthening human capital and supporting advanced education for national development.
Applications officially open on Tuesday, 20 January 2026, and will close on Friday, 20 February 2026. Interested applicants are required to apply through the official GETFund scholarship portal, where the full application process is hosted. The online system allows applicants to complete their forms, submit personal and academic details, and upload scanned copies of all required documents for assessment.

The application process is designed to be transparent and merit-based. After submission, applications go through a vetting and shortlisting stage to ensure that only qualified candidates are selected. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted after the vetting process is completed. All relevant information regarding eligibility, documentation, and assessment criteria is available directly on the application portal, making it important for applicants to review the guidelines carefully before applying.
GETFund has also issued important notices to guide applicants. All correspondence will be strictly between GETFund and the individual applicants, and applications must be submitted only through the official scholarship portal. The Fund has not appointed any individual or agency to act as an intermediary, and applicants are advised to report any such claims to the nearest police station.
It is important to note that persons with disabilities in public tertiary institutions are not eligible under this specific scholarship scheme. However, eligible applicants with disabilities may explore funding options under the Students Loan Trust Fund, which operates a separate support initiative.
For postgraduate students seeking financial support to further their education locally, this scholarship presents a valuable opportunity to advance academic and professional goals while contributing to Ghana’s development. Applicants are encouraged to apply early and ensure all information provided is accurate and complete.
