Advisory To All Teacher Trainees Following the Notice of PRINCOF and Ongoing CETAG Strike
JUSMAnewshub -16th January 2026

Earlier today, the Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) released an official press statement addressing the ongoing CETAG strike and the notice issued by PRINCOF. As a teacher trainee myself who has faced same problem exactly a year ago, this communication is important because it directly affects students academic routine, especially the final year students on Macro teaching waiting for supervision from their respective college lecturers
According to the press release, TTAG has directed all teacher trainees to remain at home until the industrial action by CETAG is officially called off. This means teaching and learning activities are expected to pause for now, following the unresolved issues between CETAG and the relevant authorities. The association made it clear that this decision was taken in the interest of trainees and in line with guidance from college principals.
What stood out to me most in the statement is the reassurance from TTAG’s leadership because the current president is a man of his words. The association emphasized that it is actively engaging stakeholders and authorities to help bring the situation to a permanent and sustainable resolution. This assurance is important, especially at a time when many trainees are anxious about academic delays and uncertainty.

The press also addressed Level 400 teacher trainees who are currently undertaking macro-teaching. TTAG explained that discussions are ongoing with PRINCOF regarding the approved duration of the exercise. For now, Level 400 trainees are encouraged to continue their practice and rely only on official communication from the association, should the strike extend beyond 9th February.
As of now, students across the colleges have not officially reacted to the press statement from their mother association. Many trainees are still waiting, observing developments, and hoping for clearer timelines. Until further notice, the general mood remains calm but uncertain, as teacher trainees look to TTAG for direction and timely updates in the days ahead.
