Christmas Break Comes Early for Public Colleges of Education to complete an administrative work before next phase begins

JUSMAnewshub - 10th December 2025

Great news for student-teachers: public colleges of education in Ghana will begin their Christmas break earlier than planned this year. According to a recent memo from the National Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education‑Ghana (PRINCOF), the break will begin on Friday, 12 December 2025, instead of the previously scheduled 20th December. Classes are set to resume on Monday, 19 January 2026.

PRINCOF’s decision is meant to give enough time for the 2025 WASSCE Awaiting Results applicants to complete their admission process and report to college before the new academic term begins. This change affects all public colleges of education across Ghana. The memo also urges college principals to ensure all necessary internal arrangements are in place for security, essential services, and administrative tasks during the break period.

For many students, this early holiday break is a welcome surprise. It offers an earlier chance to head home, reconnect with family, and recharge before the new semester begins. At the same time, it gives newly admitted students extra time to complete administrative procedures and prepare for their upcoming courses.

While some colleges may scramble to adjust their calendars, the shift makes sense given the admission timetable. It ensures a smoother transition for new students and helps colleges start the second term without delays. If you’re a student or recently admitted, this is a good time to plan travel, wrap up loose ends, and prepare for next term.
