Ghana Armed Forces Announce Major Joint Security Exercise in Accra

The Ghana Armed Forces, together with several sister security agencies, will carry out a large-scale joint Show of Force exercise in Accra on Thursday, December 11, 2025. The announcement was made in a public statement issued by the Department of Public Relations at Burma Camp. The operation will bring together the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prisons Service, National Fire Service, the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, and the Immigration Service.

According to the statement, the coordinated exercise will begin at 9:00 a.m. from the Black Star Square. Security personnel will move through major streets across the capital before concluding at the same location. The initiative is part of ongoing national efforts to boost security preparedness, especially as the festive season approaches. Officials noted that the Show of Force is intended to enhance operational readiness, discourage criminal activity, and assure citizens of the country’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability.

Beyond demonstrating readiness, the exercise is also expected to strengthen cooperation among the participating agencies. By improving coordination, authorities aim to reinforce the country’s overall security posture and ensure that teams can respond swiftly and effectively to any emerging threats. The statement highlighted that maintaining a safe environment for all residents remains a top priority.

Although the exercise is routine, the Armed Forces cautioned that the public may notice an increased security presence across Greater Accra. Minor traffic delays are also possible as convoys move along designated routes. However, residents are encouraged to go about their daily activities without concern.

The release, signed by Colonel Evelyn Ntiaamoah Asamoah for the Director General of Public Relations, urged media houses to assist in informing the public. The Armed Forces emphasized that transparency and awareness are essential, especially when operations of this scale take place within the capital.

The joint exercise serves as a reminder of the ongoing work done by security agencies to safeguard the country and ensure that communities remain peaceful and secure.
