Government unveils committee for 24- Hour passport office rollout

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has inaugurated a committee to oversee the implementation of the government’s planned 24-hour passport application office.https://chat.whatsapp.com/HPfqFbuSt7fA2MVV742k2V

Additionally, the Minister announced the establishment of another committee focused on migration and the welfare of Ghanaians in the diaspora.

Speaking during his inaugural meeting with foreign service staff, Mr. Ablakwa outlined plans to introduce a performance assessment matrix to ensure efficiency and high standards within the foreign service.

He also disclosed plans to review staff conditions of service, including the reintroduction of a duty waiver for foreign service personnel.

We want the Passport Office to become a 24-hour passport office that operates round the clock, and we will be piloting that as we look at moving all our missions to a 24-hour working period.

“Potentially, we can triple current staff numbers if we roll out a 24-hour operation within the ministry. It is one of the committees we will be setting up today,” he stated.
