An A represents excellent performance and carries a grade point of 4.0, while B+ (3.5) and B (3.0) indicate very good performance. A C+ (2.5) is considered fairly good, and a C (2.0) is satisfactory. D+ (1.5) and D (1.0) are passing grades but are not strong, meaning students should aim for higher scores to maintain a good academic standing. F (0.0) signifies failure, and students who receive this grade may need to retake the course.
To determine a student’s overall academic standing, the university calculates the CGPA by averaging the grade points of all courses taken. A CGPA of 3.6 or higher qualifies for a First-Class degree, while a CGPA between 3.0 and 3.59 falls under Second Class Upper. Those within the 2.0 to 2.99 range earn a Second Class Lower, while students with a CGPA between 1.0 and 1.99 may be classified under Third Class or Pass, depending on the program requirements.
Students are encouraged to maintain at least a 1.0 CGPA to avoid academic probation or possible withdrawal from the university.
