Her Excellency Hannah Tetteh sent a message to John Dramani Mahama about Burkina Faso president

Hannah Tetteh, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), delivered a message to President John Dramani Mahama concerning the President of Burkina Faso. She also shared her thoughts on the Burkina Faso leader’s presence at President Mahama’s recent inauguration, where he was seen carrying a sidearm.

In an interview with Johnnie Hughes on 3FM, Tetteh addressed concerns about the incident and conveyed a message to President Mahama. When asked about the significance of the Burkina Faso leader attending the ceremony while armed, she stressed the importance of maintaining strong diplomatic relations with neighboring countries, despite any controversies. She highlighted that it was beneficial for the Burkina Faso President to attend the inauguration, as both Ghana and Burkina Faso need to collaborate on common issues, particularly those related to border matters.

“Burkina Faso is our neighbor, and that’s a geographical reality. We must maintain good relations with our neighbor to tackle challenges, especially those along our border,” she explained.

While Tetteh acknowledged that seeing the Burkina Faso President carrying a firearm at such a significant event might raise questions, she urged the public to focus on the bigger picture, emphasizing the importance of his attendance.

“I believe the fact that the President of Burkina Faso attended the inauguration is positive, despite concerns about him arriving with a firearm. However, we should keep the bigger picture in mind, recognizing that events in Burkina Faso affect us and vice versa,” she remarked
