Over the past few months, I’ve had conversations with dozens of health trainees who’ve all shared a similar frustration: they still haven’t received their trainee allowances. Join my WhatsApp for more updates https://chat.whatsapp.com/IwYdwerq679JpLNCAQXatL
Some are in their final year. Others have been waiting since Level 100. And what makes this even more painful is that these are students who are juggling clinical work, studies, and daily living expenses all with no financial support they were promised.
I’ve seen classmates borrowing to get through a semester. I’ve seen bright, committed future nurses and health workers nearly give up not because they lack passion, but because they simply can’t afford to keep going. This isn’t just a few isolated incidents. It’s widespread.
Yet, just recently, there was a national announcement reaffirming the government’s commitment to paying these allowances on time. That sounded hopeful but on the ground, many of these students are still waiting. We had several notice that some have received their allowances but others too have not. So this is what we as an association decided to do to help our health Trainees who haven’t received their allowances paid recently.
If you’re one of the many who hasn’t received your allowance whether it’s from last semester, last year, or even your first year this is your chance to make your voice heard.
The General Secretary of NAHSAG have opened a dedicated line for students to report unpaid allowances. Every entry we get will help strengthen our case as we follow up with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders.
If you’re affected, please get in touch via WhatsApp or call: +233 59 326 0659 to report your issue and you shall be sorted in due time.
Deadline to submit your details: 5th August, 2025. Let’s make sure no trainee is left behind.
This issue is bigger than any one person. It’s about fairness. It’s about honoring the promise made to every student who chose to serve the nation in healthcare. And it’s about securing the future of Ghana’s healthcare system by supporting the next generation of professionals.
We’re not just asking. We’re taking action.
Together, we’ll keep pushing until something changes.
United for our future. United for health.
