The Ghana Education Service has confirmed a tragic bee attack that occurred at Anloga E.P. Basic School in the Volta Region.

The Ghana Education Service has confirmed a tragic bee attack that occurred at Anloga E.P. Basic School in the Volta Region, an incident that has deeply shaken the local community and the nation at large. The attack took place on Wednesday, 17 December 2025, during normal school activities, turning an ordinary school day into a moment of fear, confusion, and loss. According to official reports, the sudden nature of the incident left little time for immediate avoidance, exposing both learners and staff to serious danger.’

In total, thirty people were affected by the attack. Among them were twenty-two learners, five teachers, and three school feeding cooks. The teachers were reportedly stung while making efforts to rescue pupils and move them to safety, an act that highlights their commitment and courage in the face of risk. Sadly, two of the learners lost their lives as a result of the incident, casting a heavy shadow over the school and surrounding community. Several others sustained varying degrees of injuries and were given medical attention.

The management of the Ghana Education Service has expressed its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased learners, acknowledging the pain and grief caused by this unfortunate event. The Service also extended its sympathies to all those affected and wished the injured a speedy and full recovery. Assurances have been given that the GES will provide full support to victims and their families throughout the recovery process.

The swift response from teachers, community members, and officials of the Ghana National Fire Service played a critical role in preventing the situation from becoming even more devastating. Their timely intervention helped bring the incident under control and ensured that the injured received prompt assistance. The GES has formally expressed gratitude to all those involved in managing the emergency.

In response to the incident, the Ghana Education Service is working closely with the Ghana National Fire Service, the National Disaster Management Organisation, and local authorities to completely eliminate the bee habitat within and around the school. Preventive measures are also being put in place to reduce the risk of similar incidents in the future, reinforcing the importance of safety within the school environment.
