This intervention comes at a critical time when Colleges of Education are expected to deliver high standards in teacher training, particularly under the current reforms in basic education. For many years, limited access to reliable transportation has affected the ability of college authorities to supervise off-campus teaching practice, attend official assignments, and carry out essential outreach activities. The new vehicles are expected to reduce these challenges considerably.
The beneficiary institutions are as follows:
1. Accra College of Education
2. Ada College of Education
3. Akatsi College of Education
4. Al-Faruq College of Education
5. Berekum College of Education
6. St. John Bosco’s College of Education
7. OLA College of Education
8. Bagabaga College of Education
9. Enchi College of Education
10. Foso College of Education
11. Holy Child College of Education
12. Jasikan College of Education
13. Offinso College of Education
14. Presbyterian Women’s College of Education
15. SDA College of Education (Asokore)
16. St. Vincent College of Education
17. Tamale College of Education
18. Tumu College of Education
19. Wesley College of Education
20. NJA College of Education
Education stakeholders have welcomed the initiative, noting that improved mobility will enhance supervision of teacher trainees during practicum, strengthen engagement with partner basic schools, and support smoother administrative operations. For colleges located in remote and underserved areas, the impact is expected to be even more pronounced.
Beyond logistics, the distribution of the vehicles reflects a broader commitment by the Ministry of Education and GETFund to invest in teacher education as the foundation of national development. By equipping Colleges of Education with the necessary tools to function effectively, the government continues to demonstrate its focus on improving teaching quality and learning outcomes across the country.
