The National Teaching Council (NTC) has officially opened registration for the 2026 Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE 1). This registration is specifically for re-sit candidates, those who registered but were unable to sit for last year’s examination, and individuals who could not register at all. If you fall within any of these categories, this is your opportunity to regularize your status and sit for the upcoming examination.
Eligible candidates must possess a Bachelor of Education degree or a Postgraduate Diploma in Education. Applicants with foreign qualifications are required to provide a certificate evaluation report from the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) to confirm their eligibility. Registration officially begins on 16th February 2026 and will close on 10th March 2026, while the examination is scheduled to take place from 23rd to 25th March 2026. Candidates are encouraged to complete the process early to avoid last-minute complications.
Below is the step-by-step process for registration:
1. Confirm Your Eligibility
Ensure you hold a Bachelor of Education degree or a Postgraduate Diploma in Education. Foreign graduates must secure a GTEC evaluation report.

2. Check Your Indexing Status
Visit the official NTC website http://ntc.gov.gh to confirm your indexing status before beginning registration.
3. Pay the Indexing Fee (If Required)
Pay GH¢50 for indexing. Re-sit candidates are not required to undergo indexing again.
4. Determine the Correct Examination Fee
Fresh candidates (three papers): GH¢450
Re-sit one paper: GH¢150
Re-sit two papers: GH¢210
Re-sit three papers: GH¢385
5. Make Payment
Payments can be made at any Prudential Bank branch nationwide or via mobile money by dialing *772*51# on any network. Use your college or university index number when making payment.

6. Select the Required Options on the Mobile Platform
Choose National Teaching Council mobile payment service
Select “Teacher Licensure”
Retrieve voucher
Select option 1 (Teacher Licensure)
Follow the prompts to complete payment
7. Receive Confirmation Message
After successful payment, you will receive a message containing your name, indexing number, and further instructions.
8. Complete Registration Within the Official Period
Ensure all steps are completed between 16th February and 10th March 2026.
9. Prepare for the Examination
Sit for the examination from 23rd to 25th March 2026 as scheduled.
