Teacher Trainees are fed by the government of Ghana through teacher trainees allowance paid through student loans trust fund. The fund allocated for each student is ghc400.00.

Ghc200.00 for feeding components that goes to the school for feeding the students and ghc200.00 goes to the students. As matter of fact, PRINCOF decide to increase the feeding grant to provide a better meal for the students since students complained of insufficient nutrition in their food. As a result, students receives ghc149.00 instead of ghc200.00. As if that’s not enough, recently, PRINCOF took a decision to provide students with only one hot meal because the feeding grant is not enough for feeding them 3 times a day.

This has brought unrest arguments between students, PRINCOF and TTAG.

The students took a stand that they don’t want to be fed by the school again rather they want their full allowance from the government so they can take care of themselves. TTAG took an action by conducting a survey through various SRC executives in all colleges to know their final decision on that.

According to the national TTAG president, Divine, the survey clearly shows that students are no longer interested to be fed by the school rather they want the full allowance from the government. According to him, 90% of the students voted for receiving their full allowance instead to be fed.

Based on the survey, TTAG wrote an official letter to the PRINCOF to consider the decision of the students by cancelling the feeding and allow them to receive full allowance from the government. According to TTAG national president, they are yet to receive a feedback or a public announcements from PRINCOF to know their stands as well.

As of now, TTAG has agreed with the students body to cancel the feeding in school and to allow them receive their full allowance. What this means is that student will receive ghc400.00 from the government directly into their account and they will feed themselves on campus.
