Two Gentlemen arrested over large suspected Narcotic drugs by the Tema Regional police Command

Two individuals are in police custody following the interception of a large consignment of suspected narcotic drugs by the Tema Regional Police Command.

The arrest followed a planned” intelligence-led operation along the Akosombo–Tema Road, where officers stopped two vehicles believed to be transporting illegal substances. The vehicles, a white Toyota Highlander and a black Mitsubishi Pajero, were being driven by Isaac Odoi, aged 33, and Kwame Mani, aged 39.

A thorough search of the vehicles led to the discovery of 1,613 wrapped parcels suspected to contain narcotic drugs. Police retrieved 872 parcels from the Mitsubishi Pajero and an additional 741 parcels from the Toyota Highlander.

Both suspects were immediately arrested and later handed over to the Regional Criminal Investigations Department in Tema on January 12 to assist with ongoing investigations.

According to the police, samples of the seized substances have been forwarded to the Forensic Crime Laboratory for scientific analysis. Authorities have also indicated that further operations, including searches at the suspects’ residences, are expected as investigations continue.

The operation was carried out in the early hours of January 11, 2026, at Agomeda Junction. Police explained that the action was based on credible intelligence suggesting that a large quantity of illegal drugs was being transported from the Volta Region toward Tema.

Speaking on the matter, the Head of Public Affairs for the Tema Regional Police Command, ASP Dede Dzakpasu, said the successful operation reflects the police service’s determination to dismantle drug trafficking networks. She further encouraged members of the public to support law enforcement agencies by providing reliable information to help combat crime.
